The Leftovers

The entire ASU Devils Den staff agreed on Play #1, and that was it. Therefore, here are some plays which received votes, but they did not make the Top 12. Consider “The Leftovers” as the “Others Receiving Votes” category in the AP Poll.

  • Quarterback Taylor Kelly 50 yard TD run against Colorado
  • Safety Jordan Simone’s forced fumble against Colorado with the Sun Devils only up 17-14
  • Quarterback Mike Bercovici’s sliding through the pocket to complete a pass to DJ Foster on a 3rd and 11 against Stanford
  • Linebacker Laiu Moeakiola Sack and Forced Fumble against Washington
  • Wide receiver Cameron Smith 42 yard touchdown reception against Washington State
  • Safety James Johnson vicious sack of Arizona Quarterback Anu Solomon
  • Defensive lineman Demetrius Cherry two yard fumble recovery touchdown

While the final “12 Pack” ending up being positive plays for the Sun Devils, some negative plays also received mentions among as possible 2014 defining plays:

  • Kelly getting injured on a run against Colorado
  • UCLA defensive back Ishmael Adams 95 yard interception return touchdown
  • Utah kicker Andy Phillips missing a second 35-yard field goal in overtime after their coach calls timeout right before he misses his first attempt
